Stich

The reason I feel I need to re-home him is because he needs a different environment to be happy. He has a disease called Feline Hyperesthesia which is easily managed with Pregabalin or Gabapentin. This disease often occurs in cats with an "electric" and anxious personality, which he has. His neurologist has said he has a form of "cat ADHD". Unfortunately, my living situation is not well suited for a cat with these issues and he needs a place with more territory to explore, more stimulation, and maybe a cat companion. It's a really hard and painful decision but he deserves the best and, unfortunately, I'm not able to give that to him in any other way other than this. I have tried! His vet and I really feel that his behavior will be 'normal' when he is in a better situation. When on the Pregabalin, his Hyperesthesia is not noticeable.

Regarding his personality:He is the kindest, sweetest, most affectionate and loving cat I have ever met! All he wants in life is to love and be loved. He doesn't have a single aggressive bone in his little body. He's about 3 years old and around 5.5-6kg. his favorite things are his rubber chew toy, which he chews on after every meal, and his feather wand, which he will drag up and drop in your lap to tell you it's time to play. He is very good at taking his medications every day and doesn't put up a fuss. He even allows nail trims and tooth brushing. He has never peed, pooped, or marked outside the box. He LOVES to play and LOVES to snuggle up against you to sleep every night. He is just such a good and kindhearted little boy and he will make the best companion.  I think the ideal situation would be an older but still active person with another cat and maybe a small yard or cat patio for him to explore. Or maybe a family with older kids who would give him the playtime he loves. He needs a lot of different parts in his world rather than just one person that is his entire world, which is how it is currently. I adopted him in a shelter where he was housed with other cats and he seems to be a bit more submissive. I think another kind and playful cat would be a good match. He is nervous around dogs but might be ok with a calm, non aggressive one. He has always been an indoor cat. I've taken him on the leash to explore outside. He seemed a bit nervous and overstimulated so I think he would prefer being indoor only or indoor with an outdoor catio. I have been working closely with a veterinary neurologist, behaviorist, and regular vet. Anne-Li, the neurologist, has said that she can send over his files or a paper about him, if needed. I am also more than happy to provide any needed info! I just want him to find the best place possible. He has so much love to give and deserves it.
